Our Love Story
Roceli and Fred’s love story begins in Dallas on Thanksgiving 2014. Fred’s aunt, who knew Roceli’s mother from work, invited Roceli and her mother to Thanksgiving dinner, mentioning that her nephew was visiting from California. Over the years, Roceli had heard many things about this nephew, and when they finally met, there was an instant connection. They chatted mostly with each other throughout the evening, leaving little time for anyone else.
Their families spent more time together during that weekend, and somehow or other, Roceli gave Fred her phone number. They have been in contact every day since.
For a year, they FaceTimed after work, enjoying long conversations. Fred's attentiveness and shared interests strengthened their bond. He eventually flew out to see her, and on September 27, 2015, they started officially dating.
Throughout their relationship, Roceli and Fred discovered many shared interests, such as visiting museums, going to the opera, and fine dining. Fred also earned Roceli’s mother’s approval, further solidifying their relationship.
Just before the pandemic started, Roceli had gotten a house of her own, so when air travel became precarious, Fred flew to Dallas to “ride it out together” in the new house. Weeks turned into months, and eventually, Fred moved in permanently. Fred earned his keep by doing electrical and plumbing work, and always knowing the perfect movie to watch together.
Roceli and Fred are excited to start a new chapter of their life together in California, and they hope you can join them at Stanford and Ardenwood!
